Soil blown off the fields gives moss a start on the tiles, so roof cleaning in Market Rasen is worth doing early. We scrape it off by hand, then treat the roof.
Market Rasen is on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and sits higher than the fens, so it catches more rain blowing in on the wind. The River Rase runs through the town and keeps the streets near it damper. Houses on the Wolds side of town tend to get the heaviest growth. The old brick and stone in the Victorian market buildings needs careful, targeted cleaning rather than a high-pressure jet wash.
On the Wolds edge, soil blown off the farmland round Market Rasen settles on roof tiles and gives moss something to grow in. Left alone, the moss slowly lifts tiles and blocks valley gutters.
We clean Market Rasen roofs from ladders rather than walking on them, so nothing cracks underfoot.
Old brick-town roofs and newer homes need different handling, so we choose the method first.
We’re covered by £1m public liability insurance on every job.
