Why Grantham properties need moss removal

Grantham is a market town on the old Great North Road, built from a mix of local limestone and Victorian red brick. Moss removal in Grantham is a regular job for us, mostly on roofs and on drives and patios that sit in shade. Moss and lichen spread over the surface and hold water there. Over time that lifts roof tiles and makes paving slippery.

Where Grantham roofs go green

Limestone and red-brick houses in Grantham pick up moss on shaded roofs and paths, especially on the north side. Once it’s established it keeps the surface damp and slowly harms it.

✗

Tiles lifting

As roots spread under the tiles and pointing, rain soon finds a way in.

✗

Slippery paving

Moss on a shaded drive is slippery when wet, especially on a slope.

✗

Trapped damp

While moss keeps limestone and brick wet, frost then does more damage.

✗

Blocked drainage

Also, moss debris washes into gutters and valleys and stops the flow.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Does treated moss come back?

A: It's much slower to return. Still, north-facing roofs in shade may need a further treatment now and then.

Q: Can you clear moss without roof access?

A: In most cases, yes. We use ladders and long-reach tools, so nobody usually needs to stand on the roof.

Q: Is it worth removing moss from a roof?

A: Yes, because moss holds water and lifts tiles and pointing. It's also slippery on paving, so removing it is better for the house and safer for you.

Q: Do you treat drives and patios too?

A: We do. Drives and patios get cleared and treated, and so do paths and steps.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The operative arrived on time, as arranged. Brought the necessary kit to clean an accumulation of dirt, weeds and debris over several years from our drive and patio. This was accomplished by the end of the working day when all was looking pristine. Surfaces had been cleaned down. A week later they were back to fill the gaps with kiln dried sand and now it looks like new.

My front and back garden look brand new. All slabs are the original colour and weedless and the front is weed free and looks amazing. They worked really hard throughout the day and also returned to finish the work, due to really hot weather. Very good customer service, had a concer and called me back within 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend 👌

From start to finish what an absolute pleasure.
No pushy salesman just an authentic genuine quote. Even when I added a couple of bits, nothing was too much trouble. The price was really good too.
Paul and Dale turned up on time on the date stated. Even though the weather was horrible they got cracked on with the job.
They grafted all the time they were there. The work carried out was exceptionally good. They cleaned up all of the mess afterwards and let the place spotless.
I cannot praise them enough.
They treated my mum and her bungalow with the utmost respect.
