Roof cleaning in Coningsby, Lincolnshire

Low ground by the Bain keeps roofs wet for days, so roof cleaning in Coningsby is mostly a fight with moss. We take it off by hand, then soft-wash and treat.

Why Coningsby roofs need regular roof cleaning

Coningsby sits on the River Bain at the edge of the fens. The land is low and damp, which means plenty of roofs stay wet and shaded for days at a time, and moss loves that. Once it’s established on a north-facing pitch it soaks up water and holds it against the tiles and pointing, and the roof wears out sooner than it should.

When moss starts doing damage

Coningsby is low-lying ground. Moss and lichen get a grip on roof tiles faster than you’d expect. The north side of the roof dries slowest after rain and usually has the most growth.

✗

Moss under tiles

Roots push beneath the tiles and into the ridge pointing, so bit by bit gaps open and rain gets in.

✗

Freeze-thaw damage

Moss stays soaked. Then frost freezes it and it swells, so by spring tiles have cracked and pointing has worn.

✗

Blocked valleys

It also slides into valleys until the drainage blocks and damp starts.

✗

Kerb appeal

A green roof is one of the first things people see from the road, and buyers may be put off.

Roof cleaning in Coningsby, what we do

Roof cleaning for homes all over Coningsby.

Moss removal

Established moss scraped and brushed off every slope.

Biocide treatment

A long-acting spray, so remaining lichen dies and is slow to come back.

Ridge repointing

Cracked ridge mortar replaced so the roof line keeps out the weather.

Valley clearance

Valleys cleared of moss and debris, so water then drains freely.

Tile inspection

We also check for tiles that have cracked or slipped.

Gutter clearance

Roof and gutters on the same visit, because it costs less.

How roof cleaning in Coningsby works

Roof assessment

Before we start, we look at the roof, the moss and anything urgent.

Scraping by hand

Then moss is scraped off while nobody walks on the roof.

Biocide application

Once it’s off, the roof gets sprayed all over so the rest dies and regrowth slows.

Report

Finally we tell you about the tiles and any repairs.

Coningsby roof cleaning questions

Q: Will you need to go on the roof?

A: No. We work from ladders with long-reach tools, so in most cases nobody needs to stand on it.

Q: How long does the treatment keep working?

A: Generally 3–5 years. Damp, shaded roofs facing north, though, may need it sooner.

Q: Can you repoint the ridge?

A: Yes. If we find damaged pointing as we clean, we can then repoint the ridge as an extra.

Q: Is soft washing safe on my tiles?

A: Yes. Soft washing is low pressure, so it’s safe on concrete tiles and on clay and slate too, and it removes growth without damage.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The operative arrived on time, as arranged. Brought the necessary kit to clean an accumulation of dirt, weeds and debris over several years from our drive and patio. This was accomplished by the end of the working day when all was looking pristine. Surfaces had been cleaned down. A week later they were back to fill the gaps with kiln dried sand and now it looks like new.

My front and back garden look brand new. All slabs are the original colour and weedless and the front is weed free and looks amazing. They worked really hard throughout the day and also returned to finish the work, due to really hot weather. Very good customer service, had a concer and called me back within 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend 👌

From start to finish what an absolute pleasure.
No pushy salesman just an authentic genuine quote. Even when I added a couple of bits, nothing was too much trouble. The price was really good too.
Paul and Dale turned up on time on the date stated. Even though the weather was horrible they got cracked on with the job.
They grafted all the time they were there. The work carried out was exceptionally good. They cleaned up all of the mess afterwards and let the place spotless.
I cannot praise them enough.
They treated my mum and her bungalow with the utmost respect.
