Why Barton-upon-Humber properties need jet washing

Barton-upon-Humber sits right below the Humber Bridge, and the estuary makes it one of the harder places in Lincolnshire to keep a house clean outside. Salty wind off the Humber leaves a film on windows and render that wears them faster if it isn’t washed off. Houses on the north side, facing the estuary, take the brunt of it, and the old Georgian buildings by the river have soft brick and stone that need a gentle, low-pressure clean.

Some of the Georgian buildings by the river have soft brick, while the post-war estates have tougher paving, so we change our approach between the two.

If salt and moss have taken over

The Humber puts a salty film on everything outside in Barton, whatever the season. A jet wash clears the growth and the deposits, but on an exposed site it’s worth a treatment afterwards too, because the clean then lasts longer.

βœ—
Grime from the estuary
Years of wind off the Humber leave a grey layer that a hosepipe can’t shift.
βœ—
Slippery underfoot
Paths and steps go slick with algae, so we treat them before washing them clean.
βœ—
Dull, patchy surfaces
Concrete and block paving lose colour over time, though most of it returns after a wash.
βœ—
Moss that won’t budge
Established moss and lichen laugh at plain water, so they get treated first.

These are the outside surfaces we clean most often for Barton homes.

Drives
Concrete, tarmac, stone or block paving, all cleaned at the right setting.
Patios and paths
Slabs and paths washed carefully so the joints stay put.
Walls and fences
Brick and render cleaned of salt and green, as well as timber fencing.
Front steps
Algae cleared from steps and entrance paths before someone slips.
Garage floors
Garage floors degreased and pressure cleaned, whether the space is inside or open to the weather.
Decking
Decking gets a low-pressure clean, because timber and composite both mark easily.

How jet washing in Barton-upon-Humber goes

1
Surface assessment
We check what each surface is made of, then choose a pressure and detergent for it.
2
Pre-treatment
Next a cleaner or biocide goes down so the salt and growth start to break up.
3
Pressure washing
Then we wash each area at a pressure it can handle.
4
Post-clean treatment
If regrowth is likely, a biocide then goes on to slow it.

What Barton people ask us

Q: Can you deal with the salt film from the Humber?
A: Yes. Homes facing the estuary pick up a salty layer, so we use products and methods suited to it. We work all over Barton-upon-Humber and the Humber bank villages in North Lincolnshire.
Q: Do you change the pressure for different surfaces?
A: Always. Old Georgian brick and soft stone get around 1,500 psi, whereas a hard concrete yard can take 3,000 psi or more.
Q: Is it safe to clean decking?
A: It is when the pressure is kept low, so the grain doesn’t lift on timber or composite.
Q: What about oil on the driveway?
A: We treat it with a degreaser before washing, since that gets out far more than pressure would by itself.

The operative arrived on time, as arranged. Brought the necessary kit to clean an accumulation of dirt, weeds and debris over several years from our drive and patio. This was accomplished by the end of the working day when all was looking pristine. Surfaces had been cleaned down. A week later they were back to fill the gaps with kiln dried sand and now it looks like new.

Absolutely brilliant service. Very professional and friendly. Came to give a quote and was pleasantly surprised. My front and back garden look brand new. All slabs are the original colour and weedless and the front is weed free and looks amazing. They worked really hard throughout the day and also returned to finish the work, due to really hot weather. Very good customer service, had a concer and called me back within 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend πŸ‘Œ

An excellent job. From start to finish what an absolute pleasure. No pushy salesman just an authentic genuine quote. Even when I added a couple of bits, nothing was too much trouble. The price was really good too. Paul and Dale turned up on time on the date stated. Even though the weather was horrible they got cracked on with the job. They grafted all the time they were there. The work carried out was exceptionally good. They cleaned up all of the mess afterwards and let the place spotless. I cannot praise them enough. They treated my mum and her bungalow with the utmost respect.

Fenland did a great job cleaning and re-sanding my block paving path and my patio. Polite and efficient and cleaned the doors and windows where the dirt had splashed. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
