Why Alford homes need solar panel cleaning

Solar panels in Alford get weather from both sides. It’s a small Wolds market town a few miles in from the coast, so panels pick up salty air off the sea as well as dust from the farmland around it. Bird mess and moss run-off from older roofs pile on top. You won’t see much of it from the garden, but it costs you generation.

When output starts to slip

Coastal air and dust off the fields leave a thin film on Alford panels, and rain doesn’t clear it. So we take it off with pure water, and then the cells get full light again.

✗

Lost generation

Even a light film of dust and pollen can take a noticeable chunk out of what the panels produce.

✗

Bird mess

Droppings shade the cells, and because they’re acidic they can also etch the glass if left.

✗

Moss run-off

When older roofs above the array are mossy, the run-off streaks down and shades the panels.

✗

Warranty care

High pressure or anything abrasive can damage panels, so pure water is the safe way to do it.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Does a clean really make a difference to output?

A: Yes, it does. Dirt, bird mess and moss run-off all cut generation, so once they’re gone the light reaches the cells properly again.

Q: Will cleaning harm my panels?

A: No, because we only use pure de-ionised water and soft brushes. We never use abrasive pads or high pressure, since those can damage panels.

Q: How often do panels need cleaning?

A: Once a year suits most homes, though if your panels are under trees or popular with birds they may need it more often.

Q: Will you need to go on my roof?

A: Mostly not. Our water-fed reach poles let us clean safely from the ground.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The operative arrived on time, as arranged. Brought the necessary kit to clean an accumulation of dirt, weeds and debris over several years from our drive and patio. This was accomplished by the end of the working day when all was looking pristine. Surfaces had been cleaned down. A week later they were back to fill the gaps with kiln dried sand and now it looks like new.

My front and back garden look brand new. All slabs are the original colour and weedless and the front is weed free and looks amazing. They worked really hard throughout the day and also returned to finish the work, due to really hot weather. Very good customer service, had a concer and called me back within 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend 👌

From start to finish what an absolute pleasure.
No pushy salesman just an authentic genuine quote. Even when I added a couple of bits, nothing was too much trouble. The price was really good too.
Paul and Dale turned up on time on the date stated. Even though the weather was horrible they got cracked on with the job.
They grafted all the time they were there. The work carried out was exceptionally good. They cleaned up all of the mess afterwards and let the place spotless.
I cannot praise them enough.
They treated my mum and her bungalow with the utmost respect.
