Why Lincoln properties need decking cleaning

Decking cleaning in Lincoln depends a lot on which part of the city you live in. Uphill, around the Cathedral, Victorian terraces and Georgian houses grow thick moss on north-facing walls that rarely see the sun. Downhill and by the river the soil is heavy clay, and it gets tracked onto drives and paths. Estates out at Birchwood and Skellingthorpe pick up plenty of that clay mud from the lower parts of Lincoln.

Decking cleaning in Lincoln by Fenland Property Care

Decking cleaning in Lincoln, from Cathedral to riverside

The lower city in Lincoln stays damp, and decks there can get algae back quickly after a clean. Shady, north-facing gardens uphill have the same problem, so decks in Lincoln often need cleaning more regularly than in drier Lincolnshire towns.

✗

Green and greasy

When algae coats a damp deck, it gets slippery enough to put someone on their back. So we soft wash it off, which is safe for the boards.

✗

Mould spots

Black mould showing on the boards and in the gaps means it's dug in below the surface. Before it'll come off it needs treating, and then we clean it away while the wood stays sound.

✗

Greying & weathering

Grey timber is what happens when sunlight and algae both get at it. But a proper clean often brings back much of the original colour.

✗

Gunk between boards

If the gaps fill with muck and moss, they hold water and shorten the deck's life. So we clear them on every clean we do.

How decking cleaning in Lincoln works

Quote first, no obligation

We look at the deck, timber or composite, how big it is and what condition it's in. Then you get a fixed price, and you don't have to go ahead.

Biocide pre-treatment

Before we wash, a biocide goes over the boards to kill algae and mould, so the clean holds up for longer.

Soft washing

After that, low-pressure soft washing takes the residue off without splintering timber or marking composite.

Between-board clearing

We also clear moss and clay muck from between the boards.

Rinse & clear

Lastly we take the waste away. When it's dry, generally in a couple of hours, the deck is clean and ready to use.

Serving Lincoln and its villages

Decking cleaning in Lincoln, your questions answered

Q: Is pressure washing a deck a bad idea?

A: Usually it is. High pressure splits timber and can mark composite boards, so we soft wash at low pressure instead. That shifts algae and mould while the surface stays intact.

Q: Are you local to Lincoln?

A: Yes. We're based in Dunston, about 9 miles south-east of Lincoln, so the city is on our doorstep and we're there most weeks.

Q: Is composite decking safe to clean?

A: Yes, since composite boards respond well to a soft wash. We use methods safe for all the major brands, so the manufacturer's warranty isn't affected.

Q: Should I oil my timber deck after cleaning?

A: It's a good idea, because oil or stain protects the wood and keeps it looking good for longer. We can also tell you which products suit.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The operative arrived on time, as arranged. Brought the necessary kit to clean an accumulation of dirt, weeds and debris over several years from our drive and patio. This was accomplished by the end of the working day when all was looking pristine. Surfaces had been cleaned down. A week later they were back to fill the gaps with kiln dried sand and now it looks like new.

My front and back garden look brand new. All slabs are the original colour and weedless and the front is weed free and looks amazing. They worked really hard throughout the day and also returned to finish the work, due to really hot weather. Very good customer service, had a concer and called me back within 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend 👌

From start to finish what an absolute pleasure.
No pushy salesman just an authentic genuine quote. Even when I added a couple of bits, nothing was too much trouble. The price was really good too.
Paul and Dale turned up on time on the date stated. Even though the weather was horrible they got cracked on with the job.
They grafted all the time they were there. The work carried out was exceptionally good. They cleaned up all of the mess afterwards and let the place spotless.
I cannot praise them enough.
They treated my mum and her bungalow with the utmost respect.
