Why North Hykeham properties need decking cleaning

North Hykeham is one of the fastest-growing towns in Lincolnshire, and most of its homes were built between the 1970s and the 2000s. Houses on the eastern side back onto farmland, so clay gets blown and tracked onto drives and paths. The town is in the Witham valley where the ground stays damp, and north-facing walls and paving turn green easily.

Decking cleaning in North Hykeham, for safety's sake

On clay ground with a high water table, decks in North Hykeham stay wet long after it rains. That makes them slippery, so regular cleaning is worth it for safety alone.

✗

Slippery algae

On clay ground decks stay wet, so algae grows and makes them slippery. A soft wash, though, gets it off safely.

✗

Black mould

If black mould sits on and between the boards, it's got well in. So we treat it first, and then it comes off without damaging the wood.

✗

Greying & weathering

Timber decks go grey from sun and algae, but a proper clean brings back plenty of the colour.

✗

Clay in the gaps

Clay and moss settle in the gaps and hold water, so the boards wear out sooner. We clear them during every clean.

How decking cleaning in North Hykeham works

We look and quote

We check the deck, timber or composite, its size and condition, then give you a fixed price with no obligation.

Biocide pre-treatment

Before washing, a biocide goes over the boards to kill algae and mould, so the result lasts longer.

Soft washing

Then we soft wash at low pressure, which takes residue off while timber stays whole and composite stays unmarked.

Between-board clearing

We also clear the clay and moss from between the boards.

Rinse & clear

Lastly, the waste goes away with us. When it's dry, mostly in a couple of hours, the deck is ready.

Decking cleaning in North Hykeham, your questions answered

Q: Is pressure washing safe for decking?

A: Not really. High pressure splits timber and can mark composite boards, so we soft wash at low pressure instead. That still shifts algae and mould without harming the surface.

Q: Why does my deck stay wet after rain?

A: North Hykeham sits on clay with a high water table, so decks stay wet long after rain. That's also why algae grows quickly and the boards get slippery.

Q: How long does the job take?

A: Most garden decks take 1–3 hours, depending on size and condition. We'll also give you an accurate estimate when we quote.

Q: Should I oil my deck afterwards?

A: If it's timber, yes, because oil or stain protects the wood and keeps it looking good for longer. We can recommend suitable products.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The operative arrived on time, as arranged. Brought the necessary kit to clean an accumulation of dirt, weeds and debris over several years from our drive and patio. This was accomplished by the end of the working day when all was looking pristine. Surfaces had been cleaned down. A week later they were back to fill the gaps with kiln dried sand and now it looks like new.

My front and back garden look brand new. All slabs are the original colour and weedless and the front is weed free and looks amazing. They worked really hard throughout the day and also returned to finish the work, due to really hot weather. Very good customer service, had a concer and called me back within 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend 👌

From start to finish what an absolute pleasure.
No pushy salesman just an authentic genuine quote. Even when I added a couple of bits, nothing was too much trouble. The price was really good too.
Paul and Dale turned up on time on the date stated. Even though the weather was horrible they got cracked on with the job.
They grafted all the time they were there. The work carried out was exceptionally good. They cleaned up all of the mess afterwards and let the place spotless.
I cannot praise them enough.
They treated my mum and her bungalow with the utmost respect.
