Decking cleaning in Metheringham on the fen edge

Metheringham is a village on the edge of the fens, near the site of the old wartime RAF Metheringham airfield. It’s ringed by flat farmland, and the low ground means moss and algae settle in faster than in villages up on the heath. Soil also blows off the fields when they’re being worked. When we clean decking here we include a biocide treatment so the result holds up for longer.

Common problems on Metheringham decks

Decks in Metheringham sit on low, flat ground with fields close by. They pick up soil as well as damp, and that gives moss and algae an easy start.

✗

Algae on wet boards

Once algae coats wet decking, it's slippery enough to cause a fall. But soft washing removes it gently.

✗

Black mould

Black mould on and between the boards means the growth is in the surface. So it's treated first, and then cleaned off without any damage to the wood.

✗

Greying & weathering

Grey timber comes from sun and algae working together, while a good clean brings a lot of the colour back.

✗

Soil in the gaps

Blown soil and moss settle between boards and hold water, so the deck ages faster. We clear the gaps on every visit.

How decking cleaning in Metheringham works

A free look first

We look at the deck, timber or composite, its size and condition, then quote you a fixed price with no obligation.

Biocide pre-treatment

Before cleaning, a biocide goes on to kill algae and mould, so the result holds up for longer on low ground.

Soft washing

Then the low-pressure soft wash takes off the residue, while timber stays whole and composite stays unmarked.

Between-board clearing

We also clear the moss and soil from between the boards.

Rinse & clear

Lastly, we clear the waste. When the deck dries, mostly in a couple of hours, it's ready to use again.

Decking cleaning in Metheringham, your questions answered

Q: Does a jet wash damage decking?

A: It can. High pressure splits timber and marks composite, so instead we soft wash at low pressure. That shifts algae and mould and leaves the surface intact.

Q: Are you local to Metheringham?

A: Yes. We're based in Dunston, so Metheringham is just down the road and we're in the area often.

Q: How long does a deck clean take?

A: Most garden decks take 1–3 hours, depending on size and condition. Also, we'll give you a time estimate when we quote.

Q: Should timber decking be oiled after?

A: It's a good idea, because oil or stain protects the wood and keeps it looking better for longer. We can tell you which products suit.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The operative arrived on time, as arranged. Brought the necessary kit to clean an accumulation of dirt, weeds and debris over several years from our drive and patio. This was accomplished by the end of the working day when all was looking pristine. Surfaces had been cleaned down. A week later they were back to fill the gaps with kiln dried sand and now it looks like new.

My front and back garden look brand new. All slabs are the original colour and weedless and the front is weed free and looks amazing. They worked really hard throughout the day and also returned to finish the work, due to really hot weather. Very good customer service, had a concer and called me back within 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend 👌

From start to finish what an absolute pleasure.
No pushy salesman just an authentic genuine quote. Even when I added a couple of bits, nothing was too much trouble. The price was really good too.
Paul and Dale turned up on time on the date stated. Even though the weather was horrible they got cracked on with the job.
They grafted all the time they were there. The work carried out was exceptionally good. They cleaned up all of the mess afterwards and let the place spotless.
I cannot praise them enough.
They treated my mum and her bungalow with the utmost respect.
